History of the City Palace Jaipur

City Palace Jaipur is one of the best places for visitors. It was built in 1727 AD by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, who relocated the capital from Amber to the newly designed city. This grand palace, constructed with a blend of Rajput, Mughal, and European architectural styles, served as the royal residence and administrative center for the Maharajas of Jaipur.

The City Palace Jaipur is the residence of the royal family and houses the famous Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. 

Attractions

Jantar Mantar: Jantar Mantar is near the Palace Jaipur. Just a short walk from the City Palace, it is a large observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

In Jantar Mantar, you can explore impressive astronomical instruments like the Samrat Yantra sundial and Jai Prakash Yantra. Admire the unique architecture and learn about its historical significance through informative plaques.

Hawa Mahal: Hawa Mahal is also famous as the “Palace of Winds,” a distinctive five-story building with a façade of pink sandstone and numerous small windows. It was built for the royal women. In Hawa Mahal, visitors can explore the intricate façade and unique windows, which allow a panoramic view of the city. Another best thing is to walk through the interior rooms and courtyards to appreciate the architectural design and historical details. Today, it has become one of the best places to visit in Jaipur.

Jal Mahal: Jal Mahal is located a bit further away. This “Water Palace” is set in Man Sagar Lake. It would be best to visit Jal Mahal because there are many things to do there. Visitors can enjoy the view of the palace floating on Man Sagar Lake and take photos of its beautiful reflection. They can also relax by the lake or take a boat ride for a closer look.

Albert Hall Museum: Albert Hall Museum is situated in Ram Niwas Garden. Its architecture, resembling a grand Indo-Saracenic style, is also notable. Many visitors can explore diverse exhibits like sculptures and paintings. They can admire the stunning Indo-Saracenic architecture of the building. They can enjoy the peaceful setting in Ram Niwas Garden and learn about the historical artefacts.

Birla Mandir: Birla Mandir is one of the best places for visitors. It’s a peaceful place for reflection and offers panoramic city views. Birla Mandir admires the beautiful white marble temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.

Opening Time: 9:30 AM

Closing Time: 5:00 PM

Best Time to Visit: If you want to visit Palace Jaipur, you must visit in the early morning, right at opening time, or in the late afternoon before closing. 

Ideal Timing: Visiting between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM is usually ideal because it is the best time for photography and enjoying.

  • Children under years: Free

For Foreign Nationals:
