History of Jama Masjid in Delih

Jama Masjid is one of the best places to visit in Delhi. It is the largest and most famous Mosque in the country. Mughal king Shah Jahan built it between 1644 and 1656.

The mosque is famous for its red sandstone and white marble. It can hold up to 25,000 worshippers at a time, which shows that the Masjid is large.

Tips that you should follow in Jama Masjid

• You need to remove your shoes before entering the Masjid.
• There are no entry fees to enter the Masjid, but there is a fee for photography.
•  Plan your visit during non-prayer times to avoid disruptions. The Masjid is open to visitors between prayer times.
• Use the washrooms before entering the Masjid.
•  Dress modestly, covering your shoulders and legs. Jama Masjid, women should wear a scarf. 

Jama Masjid Architecture

Design:

The mosque was built in the Mughal architectural style, with red sandstone and white marble.

Courtyard:

The courtyard is very vast and can accommodate thousands of worshippers. It is made of white marble and has a large central tank.

Prayer Hall:

The prayer hall is on the west side of the courtyard, decorated with three large white marble domes and two minarets. 

Minarets:

Jama Masjid has four towering minarets, each 40 meters high, adorned with stripes of red sandstone and white marble.

Entrance:

 The Masjid has three large gates made of red sandstone and marble. The main entrance, known as the “Buland Darwaza,”
